Changing Seasons

The sun is shining, car windows are rolled down and people are smiling. Spring is in the air and I think almost everyone in Simcoe County is ready to embrace the weather change. All week I kept anticipating this weekend, not just because it is a long weekend but because of the beautiful weather that we are about to experience. As I woke up today, I instantly had a smile on my face that has not gone away. I noticed myself driving around tapping my hands to some cheesy old song on the radio and finding excuses to run errands so that I can be out and about, enjoying the weather.
I found this winter to be longer than usual and I am well aware that it is not over just yet. However, the break in the cold weather and endless snow is definitely welcome and much needed. I noticed myself becoming the victim of seasonal depression to some degree. It started to become extremely difficult to wake up in the morning and I would either be yearning to get out for the sake of being out or not wanting to leave the house because I didn’t want to brave the cold. I also had difficulty writing and almost stopped altogether for a while there because with working full time hours and shorter days, I just couldn’t find the time or inspiration.
There is something truly magical about the seasons we experience in Simcoe County. We experience every season in full effect. Our summers are outstanding because of the glistening water that is just steps away, to the over grown trees that cascade down on our streets. Our falls are fully embraced because of the anticipation of the leaves changing and the crisp air that accompanies it. Winter is not only beautiful with the snow-topped roofs and fun with the endless winter activities that we participate in but when the months seem too long, it allows us to fully appreciate Spring and the changes in the air and jump in our step that it brings. Every season allows us to anticipate the next, keeping life not only interesting but always different.  I know we’re ready for sunny days, late nights, bonfires, gardening and beach days. How about you?
